DEFEND YOUR DATA

Drive Encryption
Encryption is the coding or scrambling of information so that it can only be decoded and read by someone who
has the correct decoding key...

A 256-bit key requires not merely twice as long to crack as a 128-bit key, but rather 2^128 times as long.
If a device were created that could crack one Billion Billion (10^18) AES keys per second….. it would require
3,671,743,063,080,802,746,815,416,825,491,118,336,290,905,145,409,708 years to exhaust the 256-bit
key space!
Even though 128-bit keys are impractical to attack by brute force methods, 256-bit keys are not
likely to be broken by brute force methods using any obvious future technology.    What is AES?

Endpoint encryption pertains to “data at rest” on a storage device. It can be accomplished with file level encryption,
container encryption or full disk encryption.

On-the-fly encryption (OTFE) is a term often used when referring to disk encryption software. "On-the-fly" refers to
the fact that the files are accessible immediately after providing the key and the entire volume is typically mounted
as if it were a physical drive, making the files just as accessible as any unencrypted ones. On-the-fly encryption
requires the use of device drivers enabling the encryption process to be transparent to the end user. Although
administrator access rights are normally required to install such drivers, encrypted volumes can typically be used by
normal users without these rights. In general, every method in which data is transparently encrypted on write and
decrypted on read can be called OTFE.
